Transfer Students
Congratulations, and welcome to UCI! As you begin this next phase in your collegiate career, we are excited to have you begin your journey as an Anteater with orientation.
All incoming transfer students are required to complete the online orientation modules only. We do host several in-person orientation programs for transfer students to attend, but these are optional programs.
Because in-person orientation is optional for transfer students, neither academic advising nor course enrollment take place during transfer in-person orientation. Transfer academic advising and course enrollment are completely separate processes from orientation, and our office does not coordinate these events. If you have any questions regarding academic advising or course enrollment as a transfer student, please reach out to your Academic Unit for support.
Online Orientation
- Online Orientation is a series of Canvas Modules designed to introduce you to UCI resources to support your academic success, prioritize health and wellness, and find community and belonging. These are asynchronous modules, so you can work on them at your own pace.
- You do not need to do anything to sign up for Online Orientation. All incoming students will automatically be invited to access these modules in early summer. At this time, you will get an email to your UCI email address inviting you to join your assigned Canvas Group.
- There is no specific date by which you need to complete these modules. You will also continue to have access to these modules throughout your time at UCI, so you can refer back to these resources whenever you need them.
mini-TSPOP (1-Day in-person program)
- mini-TSPOP A and mini-TSPOP B are 1-day, optional orientation programs on campus. These are shorter programs for students who want to visit campus, meet fellow current and transfer students, and learn about campus resources.
- You must make a reservation for mini-TSPOP in order to attend.
- Please do not book any travel arrangements before making your mini-TSPOP reservation. We cannot guarantee your attendance at mini-TSPOP unless you have a reservation to attend that program.
- All transfer students are required to complete Online Orientation, even if you attend an in-person orientation. Attending in-person orientation does not satisfy or replace your online orientation requirement.
TSPOP (2-Day, 1-Night, overnight in-person program)
- TSPOP (Transfer Student Parent Orientation) is a 2-day, 1-night optional overnight program on campus. This program is for transfer students who want an opportunity to stay overnight on campus and have more time to connect with other students. If you do not want to stay overnight on-campus, we do not recommend this program for you.
- You must make a reservation for TSPOP in order to attend.
- Please do not book any travel arrangements before making your TSPOP reservation. We cannot guarantee your attendance at TSPOP unless you have a reservation to attend that program.
- All transfer students are required to complete Online Orientation, even if you attend an in-person orientation. Attending in-person orientation does not satisfy or replace your online orientation requirement.
Transfer Orientation Fees
- All students are billed for orientation on their ZotAccount in the Fall. No payment information is collected during the student reservation process, and no students pay for orientation before or during mini-TSPOP/TSPOP. A “SPOP Fee” will appear on your Fall ZotBill as a separate line item, since this fee is separate and not covered by any other student fees. All students are responsible for paying for their orientation fee when it is billed to their ZotAccount.
