Welcome to UC Irvine New Student Orientation!
We are thrilled you are considering UCI as one of your college options. We have different programs for incoming Freshmen and Transfers. Please see Graduate Student Orientation if you are a graduate student.
What Program and Information is Right for Me?
Anteater ZOT Start and Freshman Edge
Anteater ZOT Start (REQUIRED)
Anteater Zot Start (AZS) must be completed in order to sign up for orientation - the Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP) or the International Student Orientation (ISO) - and before signing up for Placement Testing. AZS is designed to provide you with a thorough overview of academic requirements and terminology prior to attending orientation so you can get the most out of your orientation experience. There are quiz questions on each page of the AZS so it may take you 15-30 minutes to finish.
Freshman Edge (OPTIONAL)Prepare for undergraduate success this summer!
Sign-Up by Friday, May 26th for Opportunity DrawingAll students who enroll in Freshman Edge by Friday, May 26th at 5:00pm will be entered into an opportunity drawing, and one student will receive two Disneyland tickets.
All new freshmen are required to attend summer orientation (CAMP and IUPP participants receive orientation during those programs and will not attend SPOP or ISO).
Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP)
A comprehensive 2-day, 1-night orientation for domestic and international freshmen that includes academic advising, class registration, information on important student resources and services, social activities, and lots of opportunities to make friends. Freshmen must attend a SPOP where their academic school is present. Academic school participation will be published in May.
SPOP Program Fees
*Additional $10 for linen for students (optional)
Academic Schools Available at SPOP**
A 3-day, 2-night orientation specifically designed for international freshmen who did not attend high school in the U.S. ISO includes many of the same elements as SPOP with additional information tailored to the needs of international students who are new to the U.S. Students who participate in ISO will be required to also participate in an online advising and class registration session earlier in the summer. The Academic Advisors from your school will contact you with information on how to sign up.
|September 19 - 21||ISO|
ISO Program Fees
*Linen will not be provided at ISO. Participants must bring their own linens (towels, bedding, etc).
*Students attending ISO who will be living on campus during the academic year (in Mesa Court, Middle Earth, Campus Village, Arroyo Vista, or Camino del Sol) will have the opportunity to move into their academic year residence immediately following ISO, earlier than the general student population. Students who would like to move in early will be subject to meeting all Student Housing requirements. Details regarding early move-in will be available at a later date. Regular contract or lease rates will apply for ISO students who choose to move in early.
Placement Testing (if needed)
Get your testing done early! Placement tests start in June and special accommodations can be made to take them in a facility near you! Testing Sign-ups can be done along with orientation reservations.
ALL TESTING SHOULD BE COMPLETED BEFORE ATTENDING ORIENTATION.
